CAPTAIN John Brown potted the winning black as Sir Robert Peel (pictured left) retained the prestigious Liam Tarrant Cup with a hard-fought 5-3 victory over the Boston Arms, writes Steve Barnett

It was a mistake by Boston’s Andy Hillyer who, in trying to cut back a yellow caught a red full ball and potted it, that gifted Brown the two shots he needed to secure victory with a game to spare at Cousins Snooker Club in Holloway last Monday.

The cup win wraps up another magnificent season for Peel in the Chalk Farm Pool League. Not only did the Queen’s Crescent-based side retain their division one title after chalking up 21 wins in 22 games, but star potter Chris Heim also walked away with the singles title.

The Boston Arms team (pictured below) didn’t dwell on their disappointment as they beat the Golden Lion on Monday night to capture the Division One Divisional Cup.

Despite the Golden Lion starting with a two-frame handicap, Tufnell Park-based Boston won five frames in quick succession to pocket a comfortable 5-2 victory.
