WAR paint smeared across his cheeks, Jonny Laybourn battled against the cold, wet, muddy conditions on Saturday to help the Highgate Harriers score valuable points in the South of England Cross-Country Championships.

Held on their home turf at Parliament Hill Fields, the weather and hazardous conditions didn’t stop Highgate from recording one of their biggest turn-outs ever for the competition.

Jonny played his part as he completed the men’s event, run over 15km, in 58 mins, 14 secs to finish 98th out of a field of almost 1,000.
