HIGHGATE Harrier Georgia Fear made a glittering start to her international career on Saturday when she helped Team England win gold.
The speedy 16-year-old, who goes to South Hampstead High School, lined up against the best young athletes from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales at the SIAB International Schools Cross-Country Championships in Bolton.
Georgia more than held her own as she completed the intermediate girls’ race, which was run over 4,500m, in 17:04 to finish in a highly-respectable sixth place, scoring valuable points for the victorious England team.
There was further good news for the Highgate Harriers as Jahziah Williams won a gold medal at the Middlesex Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.
The youngster, pictured with coach Marius Guei, raced to a time of 8:81 in the 60m event.
Meanwhile Robel Bahelbi ran an impressive personal best time of 31:46 to finish 10th in the Eastleigh 10k race on Sunday. Katie Meredith, Heather Bijman, Alexia Trafford and Emma Burgess were also part of the Highgate team that finished third overall.
