Cobden 2

The Richard Cobden statue

• IN 2015 the Richard Cobden statue in Camden High Street, near Mornington Crescent tube station, was taken away and underwent extensive restoration work to remove over 140 years of grime. This coincided with redevelopment of the pedestrian square area.

It is such a shame Camden Council did not take action at the time to eradicate the flock of pigeons who continue to nest and defecate all over refurbished square area and marble statue.

This makes the refurbished area undesirable for people to hang in and enjoy. The flock of pigeons are not only unsightly inhabitants in the busy area but also pose a significant public health risk from the spreading of diseases.

Surely the council can now take some action to eradicate the problem. It would also help if people, with good intentions, stop feeding them too.
