Give residents a choice on Belsize ‘streatery’

The Belsize streatery
• WHEN Camden consults on making the Belsize streatery (that is, the tables on Belsize Terrace) a permanent feature of Belsize Village it must give the residents a choice.
Friends of Belsize Village are urging Camden to include an alternative lay-out for the streatery in its consultation. Rather than allow a single restaurant to take over the entire public open space, let’s compromise!
The pavement licences for tables outside the restaurants are not contentious. However let’s offer the residents a choice. Do we want our entire open space taken over by a single restaurant or do we want a compromise?
A compromise, or middle ground, would allow sufficient space for the tables on the terrace outside Roni’s and allow public open space to the south of the terrace with the benches put back facing the sun.
Camden must offer a compromise solution (as Option B – inset) in its consultation.
