Sir Keir Starmer at the Pirate Castle

• GOOD to see our MP Sir Keir Starmer giving his backing to the splendid Pirate Castle on the Regent’s Canal, (Pirate Castle tells of battle to survive, August 5).

In fact this is only one of a vast range of local amenities for youngsters that has suffered from the pandemic – and before that from the years of crippling cuts of the Cameron / Osborne government.

An essential ingredient of any recovery has to be providing our young people with things to do and the chance to live decent, fulfilling, lives.

That rather old-fashioned saying: “The devil makes work for idle hands” is very appropriate at this time; and remember that young hands have greater strength and enthusiasm!
