• I AM concerned that gates on Primrose Hill Park will make the park more dangerous.

Before the Royal Parks decided to make gates permanent they should have consulted women’s groups about safety.

For example, Tracy Brabin, the former Coronation Street actor who was elected mayor of West Yorkshire and was herself nearly raped, last year co-authored the Safer Parks report yet neither she nor her work were consulted. Nor were Rape Crisis or greenflagaward.org. They too have expert knowledge about park safety.

What will make the park safer for women at night? As the Safer Parks report says, more eyes in there, not fewer, and an inclusive consultation.

This is the wrong way to go about things. I challenge the Royal Parks to fulfil their earlier promise to hold a full consultation.
