A VISIT to see the new spider monkey home at London Zoo gave photographer David Barton a surprise yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

While the simians are the stars of a the zoo’s new-look Snowdon Aviary, where the squirrel-sized creatures famed for using their magnificent tails to hang upside down have been housed since early summer, a different set of celebrated faces hoved into his viewfinder.

Along the towpath of the Regent’s Canal that snakes past the zoo, Hollywood film stars Kristin Scott Thomas and Gary Oldman were busy rehearsing their lines for a new episode of Slow Horses, screening on Apple TV.

A fan of both the actors, Mr Barton, who lives in Kentish Town, added: “I’d gone to take pictures of the monkeys, but they were reluctant to do anything too monkey-ish. Instead, I got pictures of a different type of A-lister.”
