NO fewer than four champions moved a step closer to retaining their crowns in the Chalk Farm Pool League on Monday following a night of top potting and high drama.
Sir Robert Peel’s Chris Heim is the odds-on favourite to retain the singles title after beating team-mate John Beaney 2-1 in their best-of-three encounter. Boston Arms duo Rory Cooper and Pat McGahegy are also through to the semi-finals.
Peckwater TA’s Dean Morgan and James Mason are two wins away from retaining the doubles title after chalking up a 2-0 win over Frankie Gillen and John Newcombe from POW Dynamos.
Seniors champion Roy Cooper, who plays for Boston Rimmers, was also celebrating a place in the final four following his 2-0 win over Murray Mckee from Cock Tavern Aloysius.
