Four Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club members win gold at London Region Winter Championships

A TOP quartet from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club produced pure quality at the weekend as they all won gold at the London Region Winter Championships held in Crystal Palace.

The most exciting race of the competition came in the open women’s 100m backstroke final where
16-year-old Rosie Hughes beat team-mate Sophie Rittenhouse by two hundredths of a second.
 
Rosie touched home in 1min 05.16 seconds to edge out Sophie’s time of 1.05.18 and become the 2011 senior and junior champion.

Rosie also won the junior 100m freestyle and was third in the junior 50m freestyle.

Club-mate Sophie, 16, added to the silver medal she won in the 100m backstroke when she stormed to victory in the 200m backstroke in 2.21.96, taking the senior and junior titles in style.

Leo Jaggs, 17, won the men’s open 50m freestyle in 24.38, and then added double silver in the 100m freestyle and the 200m individual medley.

The fourth swimmer to be crowned regional champion was Joan Sebastian Tello, who won the junior title in the 50m freestyle with a time of 25.56. He also finished second in the junior 100m freestyle.

There were also medals for Jorgos Skotadis, who did extremely well to pick up a junior bronze in the 400m freestyle, and Kelly Hookway, who collected junior bronze in the 100m butterfly.
