THE world is worse than once it was
A rift has marred the skein
A woman’s gone from us whose like
We shall not see again
Who sharp of mind and
soft of voice
Led us all gently where
From her great height we might look round
And breathing clearer air
Answer some questions
in a way
Better than heretofore
Making us realistically
Think we could answer more
Those of us here who knew her well
Can still hardly believe
That somebody so full of life
Could when so needed leave.
