THE Earlsberg Eagles came from a goal down to beat French outfit Mavericks in a 10-goal thriller on Saturday in the Premier Division of the West End Saturday League.
Having gone a goal down early on, Jay Miles nodded in an equaliser for the
Camden side midway through the first half.
Then up stepped Tashan Bradshaw-Brown to make it 2-1 and complete the comeback just before the hour mark.
Player-manager Kris Culley threw a fit on the sidelines after Dan Mead misjudged a
volley back to his own goalkeeper to gift hosts Mavericks – wearing the French national kit – an easy equaliser.
It looked like the Eagles were going to end the game on cruise control after a brace from Kayan Kalipha and Bradshaw-Brown’s second of the match made it 5-2 to the visitors.
But Mavericks rallied with a quick-fire brace to set up a tense finale in a pulsating game.
Their nerves were only settled late on when Culley rolled back the years with a bullet header from a corner to seal a 6-4 victory.
Following his goal-scoring celebrations boss Culley said: “We outplayed them with our quick football and rapid forwards.”
