SPURS boss Harry Redknapp has promised north London football fans one of the most nail-biting seasons in recent years.
For he’s predicting his Lilywhite Boys and Arsene Wenger’s Gunners will be going head-to-head for a Champions League spot.
Speaking after his side’s 3-1 home win against QPR on Sunday, Redknapp said that although his team were three points clear with a game in hand over Arsenal, there are plenty of twists and turns to come.
“It is going to be so open, and you just can never write Arsenal off.
If you look at players like Robin van Persie and their current form, it’s going to be tight,” said the Spurs manager.
Redknapp heaped praise on his side after their latest victory and revealed how much he wanted to sign man-of-the-match Scott Parker, who was bought on deadline day from West Ham.
“I told the chairman Daniel Levy that there was one player I want at this club,” said Redknapp.
“I said I don’t want you to spend £20million, just get me Parker.” Redknapp also revealed that because of the players age Levy was aware Parker wouldn’t have any sell-on value, but at £5.5million was still excellent value.
“What he’ll give us back over the next three years is worth its weight in gold,” added Redknapp. “It is not always about a £30million superstar, it is about getting good characters.
“He is an old-school footballer who just loves playing and gets on with it. He is a good person with a lovely family, and great to have in the dressing room.”
