A TEAM of gifted young footballers from Camden and Islington gave a new meaning to the word success on Sunday when they completed a double for the second year in a row
A 25-yard screamer from Lee Houghton and a neat finish from Jake Casey saw Locomotive Youth beat Brimsdown Rovers 2-0 to win the Under-15s Cheshunt Youth League Cup.
It’s the third year on the spin that the boys have won the cup, and even more impressively means the side have now won back-to-back league and cup doubles.
Brimsdown didn’t give up the trophy easily and Locomotive’s back four had to be at their best.
Captain Euan Taylor-Reid became the last player to lift a trophy for Locomotive as next season the team will be joining Ryan FC and competing in the Eastern Junior Alliance League.
Manager Jamie Houghton said: “This was our last ever game as Locomotive so it was fantastic to go out on a high. The boys have been superb, they’ve played 25 games this season in all competitions and lost just the once. But most importantly they’ve done it by playing some great football.”
