PLAYERS from Regent’s Park Estate FC are quickly making a name for themselves in the Premier Division of the Islington Midweek League.
Having won the Division Two title last season, the side were catapulted straight into the top flight of the league, which is played at Market Road.
And Des Casey’s team have quickly adapted to their new surroundings, winning four of their opening five league games.
Des, who runs the team alongside Perry Joyce, is proud of the way his boys are tackling the challenge.
“It was nervous jumping straight into the Premier League because we were aware of the quality that we would be facing,” he said. “But to be fair the boys are rising to the challenge. I’m delighted with their attitude and the standard of football that they have maintained so far.”
Regent’s Park Estate are hoping to celebrate their new sponsorship deal with the Sovereign pub in Stanhope Street by netting a trophy.
“We’re still involved in two cups and we’re in the title race so we’re certainly hoping to end the season with some silverware,” Des added.
