THE car horns were still beeping in Camden High Street when the New Journal went to press last night (Wednesday) and the renditions of “It’s Coming Home” seemed like they might go on forever.
And maybe “it” will come home this weekend after England’s last-minute winner against the Netherlands sent them through to a Euros final date with Spain.
Joy in the Electric Ballroom as limbs go flying, below
One of the loudest places to see Olly Watkins slam home his magical winner against the Dutch was the Electric Ballroom nightclub, where the sound system was cranked up to max with football anthems and a big screen was unfurled on the famous venue’s stage.
The compere cranks up the atmosphere demanding people sing to Sweet Caroline and asking: Who’s going to work in the morning?
The flying limbs was a scene mirrored across the borough’s pubs and clubs and there was a special screening at the Vanguard bar in Camden Market
1-0 down…
2-1 up
The Vanguard bar in Camden Market was rather noisy
A few drops of beer were spilt in the celebrations
Football may well be coming home
England fans cheering Gareth Southgate’s team on
Yes, there was facepaint
And there was a sing song celebration at the Hawley Arms too
Fans, hoping 58 years of hurt will come to an end this summer, looked depressed when the Netherlands scored an early goal – but they sprung back into life when the Three Lions came roaring back.
So, what you doing Sunday night?
