A SCINTILLATING season in the Camden Sunday League ended in style as Crouch End Rangers toppled Dinamo Dorigo to capture the Bill Price Memorial Cup at Hackney Marshes.
Rangers (pictured) went ahead against the run of play when Ramon Chaves linked with midfielder Peter David to release Mike Turrell, who coolly beat the keeper from a tightest of angles.
Undeterred Dorigo continued to press, but couldn’t breach a resolute Rangers defence expertly marshalled by Martin Worthington.
Rangers doubled their lead with the goal of the game when Chaves added the finishing touches to a flicked through-ball from midfield colossus Harouna Camara.
Dorigo pulled a goal back, but Rangers wrapped up a memorable 3-1 victory late on when winger Dan Hall collected the ball around 30 yards from goal and, ignoring cries to run it into the corner, hit a rasping left foot strike into the top corner.
Rangers are now on a recruitment drive for next season, with trials due to be held in Regent’s Park this summer. Anyone interested should email crouchend rangers@hotmail.co.uk for details.
