COBDEN Athletic were crowned champions in Division One of the Camden Sunday League at the weekend after netting a thrilling 3-2 victory over Athletico Annies at Hackney Marshes.

The triumphant team upset the odds as they won the prestigious title for the first time in the club’s history, beating the likes of Phoenix, Reddot and Annies to the top prize.

ip-winning points after a weak back-pass from Darren May was punished by Annies.

Matthew Summers kept Cobden in the game with a fantastic double save, which was rewarded in style when Patrick Jones equalised with a 35-yard thunderbolt.

The title looked to be slipping from their grasp when Annies scored from a corner to retake the lead, but a spirited fight-back saw Robin Harrison level the scores with a powerful header before Winston Fowler grabbed a late winner.
