PLAYERS from Angel Islington Football Club are flying high after winning two trophies in the space of a week.

The triumphant under-9s side (pictured) were the talk on of the town on Friday when they beat Westway 1-0 at Market Road to clinch the ‘B’ Division title in the Camden and Islington Midweek Youth League.

Jack Cruise scored a screamer to settle the tie, unleashing a right-foot volley into the top corner to lead the unbeaten team to the championship with 10 wins and two draws from their 12 games.

The victory comes less than a week after Angel won their first ever trophy by beating Yalova FC 5-1 in the final of the Cheshunt Youth League Cup.

Player-of-the-match Drew Durnan got Angel off to the perfect start with two well-taken goals, while Oliver Heath also found the back of the net in a one-sided first half.

Yalova pulled a goal back within minutes of the restart, but a dominant Angel side clinched the cup in style as they added to their lead thanks to strikes from Joash Lindo and Julian Sarmiento.

LOCOMOTIVE Youth went goal-crazy at the weekend with a 17-goal demolition of Leyton United.

Nine of the 11 Loco players got on the score sheet in a fantastic display of pass-and-move football and clinical finishing. Aaron Hammond stole the show, wrapping up a hat-trick within 35 minutes and finishing the game with five goals to his name.

George Yianni scored a timely treble, while Reuben Hinkson and Bilal Sayoud chipped in with two goals each. Massimo Allen, Charles Prince, Rushane Cornette-Brown, Tommy Govey and Euan Taylor-Reid also all managed to find the back of the net.

Now Locomotive are to face a far stiffer test this weekend when they take on Brimsdown in the final of the Cheshunt League Cup at Cheshunt Football Club, kick-off is at 3pm.
