Division Three

NEWCOMERS Tollington Trailblazers (pictured) moved three points clear in Division Three with a convincing victory over Surreal Madrid.

The Trailblazers look to have quickly found their feet at Hackney Marshes in their first season together, having won six out of their opening eight league games.

They were among the goals again on Sunday as hotshots Aidan O’Callaghan and Nick Williams both bagged a brace.

Ed Hunter and Charlie Aston were also both on target in a 6-1 win.

Captain Ben Dunham is delighted with the way his side are playing football. “We were a group of individuals who hadn’t played with each other before, so we really didn’t know what to expect going into the season,” he said.

“However, after a cautious start, we are beginning to gel as a team and this on-field familiarity has manifested itself in the form of some expansive attacking play and increasingly resolute defending.

“The good results certainly make the early starts on a Sunday worthwhile.”

Division One

Champions Phoenix continued their awesome form in front of goal with a 7-0 win over AFC Shooters.

Midfielder Dave Dawson put in a show-stopping dislay with a stunning hat-trick, which he completed in style by controlling a cross on his chest and smashing home.

Winger Gio Falzone struck twice, while Jason Donion and Jake King also both found the back of the net.

Dave Harber’s side have now scored a staggering 46 goals in just seven games, conceding just twice along the way.

Phoenix are also still flying the flag for the Camden Sunday League in the London Intermediate Cup after progressing to the third round with a 6-1 win over Turkish side Turknenicoy Aydin-Spor.

Anthony Clarke and Aaron Clark both hit two while Robert O’Brien and Jamie Killingback sealed the rout.

Title rivals Reddot are joint top with Phoenix in Division One, albeit having played a game more, after netting an 8-1 win over Dinamo Dorigo.

Steven Bruce led the goal-charge with a well-taken hat-trick, while strike partner Alexi Nicolaou scored twice. Alexi’s twin brother Stevie Nicolaou also got among the goals for Reddot, as did strikers John Purcell and Jason Medford.
