CAMDEN Sunday League champions Phoenix are “90 minutes away from their biggest ever cup final” after reaching the last four of the London Intermediate Cup.
The high-flying side beat Sporting Santos 3-1 at Hackney Marshes at the weekend thanks to goals from Jamie Killingback, who scored in under 20 seconds, Anthony Clarke and Lee Scott.
Manager Dave Harber insisted his side would give it their all in the semi-finals. “These boys live for football, I couldn’t ask to manage a better bunch of players,” he said.
“We’re going to give it our best shot, we’re 90 minutes away from the biggest ever cup final in our history.”
Back in Division One, the title race was blown wide open as Athletico Annies beat current leaders Reddot 5-3 on Sunday.
Martin Whitelock put in a man-of-the-match performance and two goals apiece from Joe Thompson and captain Jack Shepherd, along with a strike from Dan Keohane, wrapped up the win.
