THE Hub in Regent’s Park glistened in gold and shimmering silver on Saturday as another action-packed season in one of the biggest youth leagues in London came to a close.

There were trophies galore as the curtain came down on what organisers of the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League have described as their “biggest ever campaign”.

Deputy mayors from Camden, Islington and Westminster turned up to support the teams from their respective boroughs and hand out trophies to all the lucky winners and runners-up.

League co-ordinator Will Cave was delighted to see so many happy faces on the day. “More teams then ever before took part in the action and really seemed to enjoy themselves,“ he said. “It was nice to see the players and managers rewarded for all the hard work they have put in throughout the season.”

Players from Primrose and Pro Touch Soccer Academy were among the youngsters celebrating after winning their respective Under-10s and Under-11s championships.

Players from the Under-12s Sport London e Benfica side collected the championship trophy on behalf of their Under-10s club-mates.

Among the youngsters who joined in the fun was Frankie Taylor, who top scored for the Under-10s with eight goals.

Billy Lea helped guide Elites FC to glory in the Under-14s Challenge Cup after saving two penalties in a thrilling shoot-out against Somers Town Futures.

Meanwhile players from First Academy FC collected their prize for winning the Under-16s title.
