YOUNGSTERS from The Heath FC are nervously playing the waiting game as they wait to see if they have done enough to win the Under-9s title in the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League.
The team (pictured above) saw a 25-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Saturday when they lost 4-1 to title rivals Primrose.
It’s only the second defeat in two years for The Heath, who remain top of the table having played all nine of their league games.
Primrose, however, are just one point behind and still have one game left against Torriano United to see if they can win the championship.
Whatever happens, The Heath are still very much on the trophy trail as they’re also competing for the title in the Under-9s ‘A’ Division of the Camden and Islington Youth League.
They are also through to the semi-finals of the Alan Michael Brown Challenge Cup after a sublime hat-trick from Dion Sfarca saw them beat Futebol De Salao 3-0 on Monday at Market Road.
Manager Stephen O’Brennan, who is also preparing his under-9s side for the start of their campaign in the Regent’s Park League Cup, said: “The boys got over Saturday’s loss very quickly to secure a quarter-final win over Futebol de Salao and put themselves into the semi’s with three very clinical finishes from Dion.
“They have trained and played so well all season and I’m hoping they continue to finish off in high spirits and playing the beautiful game.”
