THE end of the season couldn’t have been any sweeter for players from Peel FC as they wrapped up a league and cup double on Friday in the Camden and Islington Midweek Youth League, writes Steve Barnett.

The under-16s side were celebrating within seconds of the final whistle after netting a 3-0 win over Regent’s Park in the Challenge Cup final at Market Road.

Marcos Boye opened the scoring after dispossessing a defender and lashing a fierce shot into the top corner from a tight angle.

Sam Phinikas doubled the lead just before half time, before Ricardo Boye added the finishing touches late on when he headed into a empty net following good work from Tanzil Animashaun.

As if player-of-the-match Danny McCarthy didn’t already have enough medals and trophies to hold, he was also presented with the championship shield after helping guide his team to the Under-16s title.
