CHEERS and celebrations flooded Market Road after Regent’s Park beat title rivals Angel Islington in a thrilling play-off to win the Under-11s ‘B’ Division title in the Camden and Islington Midweek Youth League.

With the two teams finishing the season level on points, the form guide slightly favoured Angel as they had won the two previous meetings between the clubs, albeit by the narrowest of margins.

But it was Regent’s Park who struck first minutes before half time when a low cross from Ramy Benhadj-Djilali was met with an unstoppable side-footed shot from Idris Hedayat.

The game was made safe in the second half when midfielder Humphrey Vocadlo split the defence with a threaded pass to Joe Jacobs, who coolly beat the keeper to seal a dramatic 2-0 victory and hand his team the championship.
