Under-9s Alan Michael Brown Challenge Cup

GOALKEEPER Connor O’Malley made a vital save in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out as Angel Islington overcame EC1 Youth on Friday to book their place in the last four of the cup.

After a goalless game at Market Road, Drew Durnan, Oliver Heath, Alex Gibson, Jack Ewens and Harvey Williams all kept their cool from the spot to send Angel through to the semi-finals.

Under-10s Challenge Cup

MIDFIELDER George Webb scored the decisive penalty as ‘A’ Class survived a shoot-out against Belsize Youth on Monday to keep their hopes of a league and cup double alive.

Having already secured the Under-10s ‘A’ Division title, the ‘A’ Class players looked to be on course for a place in the semi-finals when Waseem Mirza gave them the lead.

But Belsize battled back to send the game to penalties, which finished 7-6 in ‘A’ Class’s favour.

Having already seen his side book a place in the final of the London Cup later this month, proud manager Chris Mozo said: “The boys have done really well.

“They’ve been consistent throughout the season, only losing two games. They won the ‘B’ Division as under-9s last season and this season have won the ‘A’ Division with games to spare and can still win two more cups if all goes well, so I’m delighted."

Under-11s Challenge Cup

IN a round of closely-fought matches, Isledon Wolves also needed penalties to overcome Regent’s Park in their quarter-final tie on Tuesday.

After the game finished goalless, deputy goalkeeper Teon Levy-Wright stepped up to become the match-winner as he saved two penalties and scored a crucial spot-kick to send a jubilant Isledon through.

Under-12s ‘B’ Division

HOTSHOT Oliver Bloomfield scored a hat-trick as FC Sapo Verde stretched their winning streak to four games by beating Lyndhurst 6-1 on Friday.

Winger Giseldi Marashi and Ruben Santos were both on target as Pro Touch SA Blue netted a hard fought 2-1 win over Regent’s Park on Monday.

A determined Regent’s Park side pulled a goal back with Oliver Watts and Kemi Oboshebi combining well to set up Max Somer.

In the end they were only denied a share of the spoils thanks to some fine goalkeeping from Pro Touch keeper Ricardo Matos.

Regent’s Park captain Chris von Daehne also put in a good display in the heart of their defence.

Under-14s Division

STRIKER Daniel Leonard was the hottest property at Market Road this week as he scored five goals for Lyndhurst in their game against Belsize Park.

Jack Madden and Nathan Wanzola chipped in with two goals each, while Brody Walters, Reece Crean-White and Brennen Stevenson’s first ever goal saw Lyndhurst record a remarkable 12-1 victory.
