THE Camden Girls’ District football team couldn’t have asked for a bigger or better fixture to kick off their campaign in the new London League, which launches next Thursday (March 12).
The Year 5 and 6 squad will face neighbouring rivals Islington at Market Road in their season opener, with both sides hoping to land top billing at a special finals day which will take place at West Ham United’s Beckton training ground.
Camden will go into the game in confident mood having recently finished second in a tournament hosted by the Islington Football Development Partnership at Whittington Park in Holloway.
Manager Kirsty Stewart said: “This group of girls are doing really well at the moment.
“I have high hopes for them. We finished as runners-up in the Islington District Cup which has given everyone a real boost.”
