Firefighters tackled a blaze at the Royal Mail depot in Kentish Town today.

The alarm was raised shortly before midday on Thursday when a fire broke out in a van in the workshop behind the delivery office in Regis Road.

The London Fire Brigade said: “A vehicle inside the workshop was destroyed by fire. One man suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service.”

Flames had been doused by 12:45. The fire brigade remains at the scene and the road is closed to traffic.

Workers at the industrial estate said they believed it had been started by a welding tool, but the London Fire Brigade said the cause of fire is not yet known.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters were sent to the scene.
