BOSTON Arms reduced the points deficit at the top of the Division One table in the Chalk Farm Pool League on Monday with a resounding 8-1 win over the Sovereign.
It was business as usual for leaders The Sir Robert Peel as they picked up a 7-2 victory over the Gloucester Globetrotters. The Hurricanes remain in third spot after beating Tufnell Park-based side Boston Rimmers 6-3.
Fourth-placed POW Dynamos are also still in contention following their 8-1 drubbing of the Golden Lion.
The game of the night, however, featured a final-frame decider between Peckwater captain Ben Ferry and Mark Batson, skipper of the Peel ‘B’ team. With the score tied at 4-4, Batson declined an easy safety, instead opting to go for glory by potting a very difficult black to earn Peel a courageous 5-4 victory.
