INTER-BORO bouts livened up a hotly-contested amateur fight night at the Irish Centre in Camden on Thursday.

Eight bouts included contests pitting boxers from Camden and Islington which proved eye-catching displays for the fans.

Signature battle was undoubtedly Chris Thomas’s action-packed match with Tony Safi.

Thomas, clearly out to impress coach CJ Hussein, set the pace from the start, landing multiple body shots throughout the first two rounds.

Safi battled back gamely but Thomas had the edge and wrapped up a unanimous points victory after a string of clean head shots to pick up the trophy.

First up on the night were Callum Smith from Camden and Unis Khan from City of London Police.

The youngest fighters on display, they got the bout off to an action-packed start for a big crowd, showing real character and skill.

Sherife Lawal and Steve Collins fought a ding-dong local derby, with the fighters from Camden and Islington respectively.

It was a real inter-boro battle which caught fire in round two, and it could have gone either way.

But after a strong last round and some smart body punches, Collins eventually claimed the victory.
