SNAPPING up international karate medals is just a family affair for the Veras clan.

Brothers Luan, Liam and Luca Veras all flew home garlanded after competing in the 29th International Bosphorus Cup in Turkey.

Competing in the kumite, a form of freestyle fighting or grappling, Luan and Liam both won gold medals in their respective age and weight categories, while Luca bagged a bronze.

Not to be outdone mum Patricia Perote won silver in the kumite 35-40 age group.

She looked on track for gold with only 16 seconds to go – but a knee injury forced her to retire. Proud dad and husband Sensei Raphael, who runs the Veras Academy, said: “I am so proud. My team competed in one of the hardest karate leagues in the world and they were amazing.”
