THERE can be no doubting the calibre of Camden Fencing Club after five young members returned from the England Youth Championships sporting medals around their necks.
Boasting some of the most talented young blades from across Camden and Islington, the club has deservedly gained a commanding reputation across Europe. And it was reinforced when Kajetan McDonnell and Shreya Anil returned from the British Championships in Hatfield as champions.
Kajetan won gold in the boys’ Under-11s sabre event, while Shreya won the girls’ Under-15s.
More than 740 of the top young fencers from around the country took part, so coaches from the Camden club, which is based at Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park, were delighted.
Ben Stezaker won gold in the boys’ Under-13s foil, Jean-Baptiste Baigneres scooped silver in the Under-11s foil. And Eden Amsalem bagged a bronze in the boys’ Under-15s sabre.
