Time to fence off areas of Hampstead Heath for non-dog walkers?

• HAVING just passed an area of Hampstead Heath, above, where a fence is up, to help with regrassing I imagine, I just thought how wonderful it would be to have no-dog areas that are fenced off.

Hampstead Heath is no longer a heath. It is a park that functions for a variety of competing needs.

As a parent of a seven-year old and as someone who has lived locally for 40 years, I think fencing off a large number of areas for non-dog walkers couldn’t come too soon.

Highbury Fields has three out of four areas of the park fenced off to dogs and it is a marvellous area for all.
