ENGLAND and Arsenal Ladies legend Faye White has revealed she’ll be back after making the “emotional” decision to call time on her playing career.
After 15 years at the top of the women’s game the 35-year-old announced her retirement after suffering persistent knee problems.
In a remarkable career White won 31 major honours with Arsenal. And as England captain she led her country to four major tournaments, racking up 90 caps along the way and collecting an MBE for her services to women’s football in 2007.
White won’t be fading into the stands, however, after revealing she will still be continuing in a role at Arsenal, as well as working as an ambassador for the Football Association and fulfilling media commitments.
“I’ll carry on trying to promote the game and marketing it as I’ve been doing for the last eight years with Arsenal,” she said. “It’s taken a long while accepting England retirement and then completely deciding to stop. It’s quite emotional.
“I’ve had quite a few injuries and I know you can’t go on forever,” she added.
