Fatal Attraction star Anne Archer swaps Hollywood for fringe theatre in Highgate Village

SHE is an Oscar nominee who starred opposite Michael Douglas in Fatal Attraction, one of the biggest films of the 1980s.
But Anne Archer is swapping the bright lights of Tinseltown for N6 later this month, and heading to the more intimate surrounds of a fringe theatre stage in Highgate Vilage.
The 66-year-old will appear for four nights at Upstairs At The Gatehouse, taking on the title role in The Trial of Jane Fonda, a play which is on its way to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. Its world premiere will at the theatre above the pub in Hampstead Lane on the July 28.
Katie Plews, the artistic director of Upstairs at the Gatehouse, said: “I am very excited that a Hollywood star is coming to us. It’s a play going to Edinburgh, so there will only be four performances here. She did come to have a look around and I met her then.
“The theatre company decided to come to us because we have a performance space similar to the one in Edinburgh. It’s not the first time we’ve had an A-lister in here. But usually they tend to be in our audience, rather than on our stage.”
She added: “I know that this has generated a lot of interest from some of our A-list audience, so it wouldn’t surprise me if there were a few faces in the audience.”
The play claims to reveal the untold story of actress Jane Fonda’s activism against the Vietnam War in the 1980s.
It is directed by Emmy award winner Terry Jastrow, who has previously worked on television documentaries and sporting series on television.
