A TEAM of talented footballers were given a glimpse of what their future could hold when they were invited to watch Arsenal Ladies take on ASD Torres in the Champions League.
The squad of 14 girls from Brookfield Primary School in Highgate, who all train with Fairplay Football, cheered on the Gunners as they beat their Italian rivals 3-1 at Meadow Park. After the game, the ecstatic group of five to 10-year-olds got the chance to meet Arsenal striker Rachel Yankey, who signed autographs and gave out goodie bags.
Fairplay Football coach Peter Chapman said, “The girls were so excited about the whole experience. To see a live game and experience all the build-up gave them an idea of what they can achieve if they keep working hard.”
Fairplay Football is holding sessions for girls at the Highgate Newtown Community Centre in Bertram Street on Mondays between 4pm and 5pm. Call Peter on 07956 233977 for details.
