Fab Four swim kids lead club to glory

THE youngest stars of Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club produced an outstanding team performance to claim a memorable victory in the final of the M11 Junior Swimming League on Sunday.
In a thrilling contest held at Barnet Copthall pool, Camden were crowned division one champions after finishing ahead of chasing rivals Dulwich Dolphins, and hosts Barnet who came third.
Among the stand out performers were the Fab Four – Brandon Biss, 9, Gabriele Giovannoni, 10, Marliese Rittenhouse, 11, and Julia Murphy, 12.
Biss claimed the first individual victory of the day in the boys 9 years 25m freestyle race, which he quickly followed up with another maximum points win in the 25m backstroke.
He then joined forces with club-mates Josua Mara, Luka Cutler and Oliver Wright to win both the 4x25m freestyle and the 4x25m medley relays.
Giovannoni kept the success going by sprinting to victory in the 10 years 50m freestyle, and fought hard to take second place in the 50m backstroke.
Swimming up an age group, he also grabbed a third-place finish in the 11 years 50m backstroke event.
Rittenhouse powered home to finish first in the 11 years 50m freestyle, and took second place in the 50m backstroke.
Meanwhile Murphy continued her preparations for the nationals with an emphatic victory in the 12 years 50m freestyle and a close second in the 50m breaststroke.
Rittenhouse and Murphy then teamed up with Clementine Butler Brown and Amelia Sargent to take gold in the girls 12 years 4x50m freestyle relay.
In an exciting climax to the competition, the two girls then joined Biss, Giovannoni, Edie McGrath, Scarlet Bureau, Danny Markov and Konrad Georgescu to clinch a final gold in the 8x25m freestyle mixed cannon relay.
