Extending cycle lanes and pavements has drawbacks

Thursday, 16th July 2020

• EXTENDING all the pavements and making cycle lanes practically everywhere is a disaster for buses, emergency services and, of course, people who need to make deliveries, go to work or get to hospital appointments etc.

It’s all very well saying they are considering making it easier for people to walk or cycle but what about the people who can’t cycle or walk far.

Hardly anybody uses the extended walkways in Camden. And as for cyclists, if they stayed in the inside lane instead of riding between traffic, and if they stopped at traffic lights, the roads would be a safer place for them.

And if they didn’t ride on pavements it would be safer for pedestrians too.
