Exhibition is not so shocking…

• HUMANS have been daubing surfaces with representations of our genitals for many millennia – particularly since we as a species decided that in public we should cover our genital areas with clothing, (Gallery’s front window penis paintings ‘not appropriate near school’, June 22).
The Dutch artist Merel Ellen‘s exhibition Little Bodies of Shame in Gospel Oak which includes clouds that resemble genitals is not particularly shocking to those of us who have had genitals of one sort or another since birth.
Mind you, of course, context is everything. And all of this aside, thank goodness the recent blue skies have provided us with some relief from the luridly explicit clouds that relentlessly shock us and frighten the horses as they sail over.
