• WHEN will Camden’s libraries reopen?

The government announced permission to reopen museums, galleries and libraries on July 4 yet Camden’s website still states firmly that “we have closed all Camden libraries until further notice”.

And I see that all books already on loan are not now due back until August 31 – over six weeks later than the date of July 16, which so shocked me when I took my last books out on March 19.

What are the council’s plans? Are they not intending to reopen until September? Libraries perform an important, probably essential, community function.

And the plant in the window of the Kilburn branch has already died from lack of watering.
