• BRAVO to the organisers and participants of Camden Fringe 2017 which has been taking place at the many theatre venues throughout Camden during August.

Camden Fringe 2017 runs until August 31 (www.camdenfringe.com), so if you haven’t been to see a show already, please try. Camden has a healthy history for embracing the spirit of bohemia and its fringe festival offers a full spectrum of entertainment to suit all tastes, including thought-provoking drama, music and comedy.

Also, it provides an excellent showcase for the many creative and talented, both young and older, and is a valued platform for new writers to be able to collaborate with those experienced in the process of “page-to-stage” development.

At a time when the arts and creative freedoms are becoming marginalised, notably in our schools and education, what better a time actively to encourage and applaud those gifted with such abilities. Our world would be a dismal place without them.

A huge standing ovation must go to Zena Barrie and Michelle Flowers, who guided so many people’s creative dreams to become reality. Bravo!
