Bus crime against the elderly is too easy

Thursday, 30th May 2019

• ON Friday, on the 168 bus from Hampstead, I had the contents of my bag taken. It was particularly upsetting because there was a little black book with all the information I needed and had problems remembering.

Getting close to 90 my memory is not as sharp as it was. The bank were kind, but this was very shattering. It is clear they were very organised criminals and after many sleepless nights trying to work out how they did it, I finally got it.

One thing, the buses are to blame where the first seats for the elderly are situated immediately facing the back of the bus, and other seats face towards the elderly and the criminals are standing in the passage-way behind the victim.

Of course, they should not be standing there but the poor drivers have enough to contend with without having to discipline the public. The criminals work in twos. All too convenient.
