Each estate should have its own meeting space
Thursday, 19th September 2019
• RESIDENTS of the Mayford Estate have objected to making the Mayford Day Centre for learning disabilities into a residential care home.
Their concerns include the additional noise from the centre and from new ventilation units, the risk of vermin from waste bins, and the loss of green space due to the planned extension.
They are also extremely worried about poor security on the estate and how constant drug dealing will impact on the wellbeing of the care home. I have an over-riding worry that Mayford residents will lose use of the day centre for meetings.
I feel strongly, as a general principle, that each estate should have its own meeting space, for meetings and functions and not just for tenants’ and residents’ association meetings.
The day centre should be maintained either for the combined use by the residents and those with learning difficulties or as a community space for education, training and recreation.
Those wishing to make comments regarding the planning application 2019/4444/P regarding the day centre change of use may do so via the Camden website.
