Dumped Christmas trees in NW5

• THE annual tree dumping has started despite the following from Camden Council: “Please don’t dump your Christmas tree on the street.

“Dumping your tree on the street is fly-tipping, which can lead to a £200 fine. It also makes it difficult for people to get by safely and the trees can’t always be recycled.”

There are 20 advertised collection points around the borough for Christmas tree recycling – maybe as many as sales points for trees before Christmas?

These people are happy enough to drive or even walk to buy a tree but not to drive or walk to a recycling point. The pile in the photo is growing daily to dangerous proportions.

I’m afraid it is a kind of arrogance, the “someone else will pick it up” mentality. Would any of these people drop litter on the streets?

Would they deliberately block the path of someone with impaired vision, in a wheelchair, or with children? I would like to hope not.
