THE battle to reach the doubles finals of the Chalk Farm Pool League reached a gripping climax this week as King’s Cross Hurricanes duo Andrew Baker and Tony Bradbury took on Boston Arms pairing Everton Berry and Mo Shah in the semi-final decider.

Supporters were left on the edge of their seats at the Prince of Wales pub in Kilburn as the best-of-three-frames match went to the wire after Boston and the Hurricanes shared the spoils in the first two frames.

Shah had settled the opener in Boston’s favour, sinking the black after more than an hour of play, but Hurricanes hit back to level and set up a dramatic final frame decider. Boston looked to have taken the advantage when Shah rattled a tricky yellow into the jaws of the pocket, but Baker cannily snookered Berry and Bradbury skilfully tidied up to clinch it for Hurricanes.

Baker and Bradbury will meet Prince of Wales pairing Nicky Campbell and Stephen Moriarty in the final on July 1.
