A Boggard’s Sneck

• HOW can we learn about and understand our history if people make up names and “stories” about items dug out of the canal, or anywhere else? (Rewriting the past with a Boggard’s sneck, February 1).

Information about items in museums is based on months or years of research by experts, not dreamed up by museum staff.

This “rewriting the past” seems like something dreamt up in the pub and does not deserve any column inches in your esteemed publication.
