• TAKE heart Anita Brooks, (Bus crime against the elderly is too easy, May 30). I was also targeted at the end of February while travelling on the 31 bus and had my wallet stolen from my bag.

The Transport for London and Met police have been ingenious and managed to detect the offender from the bus’s CCTV footage. Weeks later they caught her and she is due to be sentenced.

The police say victims should be more willing to come forward and it is only in this way that we can attempt to tackle the theft problem on our buses. We shouldn’t give up and let them get away with it!
