• I AM not alone in my anger and shock at this new policy to allow men who identify as women into the Ladies’ Pond, (Heath Ladies’ Pond policy to welcome transgender swimmers, May 23).

There is a conflict of interest here, and I wonder why the interests of men who identify as women supersede the desire for women to retain their privacy.

A further conflict is the requirement that some religious groups of women not bathe or shower with men. Why should the demands of trans-identified men override the needs of Jewish and Muslim women?

Given that there is a Mixed Pond, I am very suspicious of this push to use the women’s pond.
