FOOTBALLERS representing the Islington and Camden District team bounced back from the disappointment of their English Schools Trophy exit by beating Hillingdon 3-0 at Market Road on Saturday in the Star Shield.

With three midfield regulars absent the reshuffled Under-15s side shook off a shaky start to take the lead midway through the first half.

John Tlalim’s superb inswinging free-kick was met by defender Moein Tadayon, who scored with a glancing header.

The home side went 2-0 up 18 minutes into the second half after a great passing move. Mathew Kanjeyo picked out Sammy Kisunga, who combined with Gregoire Sam to feed in striker Maurice Lebbie, who beat the Hillingdon keeper.

The win was wrapped up after good work on the left flank by Ezra Ndukuba saw Lebbie hit his second.

Islington and Camden’s Under-13s team also put in a good display despite losing at home against Hillingdon at St Aloysius College Sports Ground.

The boys took the lead through Junior Mawonsa, who raced on to Joe Bentham’s pass before blasting home from just inside the area. Hillingdon hit back to take a 4-1 lead, scoring three goals in a five minute blitz.

Islington and Camden made a match of it late on with Roger Flores scoring twice before Hillingdon had the final say in an entertaining 5-3 away win.
