THE boys from Camden and Islington have been banging in the goals on their way to bagging back-to-back wins in the Middlesex District Football Youth League.
The game of two halves cliché is often used in describing a match, but never was it more apt than in Saturday’s fixture against Brent.
Camden and Islington edged a closely contested first half thanks to a goal from Dean O’Shaughnessy.
In the second period, however, the Under-15s side (pictured) took their game up a gear and were soon celebrating with a glut of goals.
Substitute Jonathan Tlalim came off the bench to score a hat-trick, while Samuel Ababio and Moein Tadayon also got their names on the score-sheet in a resounding 6-0 smashing.
The result follows on from Camden and Islington’s 5-2 victory against Hillingdon in their opening game.
Ozcan Guneysu was the star of the show with two goals, while strikes from O’Shaughnessy and Franklin Domi, plus an own-goal, saw the borough’s boys make the perfect start to the new season.
Despite seeing his side find the back of the net 11 times in their opening two games, manager Andy Taylor has been more impressed with the going ons at the other end of the pitch, especially following Saturday’s game against Brent. “Scoring five in the second half was fantastic, but it was our defensive display that won us the game,” he said. “Picking a man-of-the match was tough, but I think I’d give it to our two centre-halves, Tadayon and Mathew Kanjeyo, who were both immaculate.”
